The overall theme of GovCon 2025...Tennessee is OPEN FOR BUSINESS! Held at the Embassy Suites in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, this well-planned event captivated an sell-out crowd of 850 guests, consisting of delegates ranging from elected officials, Main Street Directors, Tourism Department representatives, and Community Partners. Encouraging collaboration and innovation while seeking solutions to problems and creating a stronger Tennessee, the TN Economic and Community Development Department delivered an remarkable learning opportunity for all who attended.
Beginning with a first-rate Commissioner's Luncheon that introduced a well-informed panel of Tennessee Main Street delegates, participants were enlightened in all the ways the Main Street program, along with Main Street America, has helped communities with placemaking and creating a downtown people want to visit for over 40 years.
Breakout Sessions offered informational sessions on topics such as Ecotourism, Marketing Strategies, and the Future of Energy. Afternoon sessions included Tracking Labor Shortages with Local Solutions, Partnering with Industry for Economic Growth, and Creative Paths to Downtown Success.
Day Two opened with a Plenary Session featuring Deputy Governor McWhorter and the world-famous Nate Bargazte! Sharing a deep passion for Tennessee, this session left guests inspired and motivated to serve our communities with passion and determination. Wednesday's Breakout Sessions broached topics like AI and the Local Workforce, the evolving world of economic development in site selection, and Amplifying Opportunities using Music to Strengthen Communities.
The Governor's Luncheon closed out the conference with the launching of Tennessee's new brand! The audience left this conference with a forward-looking energy and ready to blaze new paths as we set our eyes on the future.
